Fellow PCT hiker "Spillz" drove over the mountains from Sacramento on Sunday and we went for a couple of hikes. First, to Montgomery Woods, and then to the coast.
We were able to enjoy the last warm, sunny day before the rains and cold temperatures returned on Monday. So warm, in fact, that we were able to hike along the coast in short sleeves.
Spillz wanted to explore some of the tidal pools, and we made some interesting discoveries.
These things have some great camouflage. I accidentally stepped on one and water shot about six feet in the air in several directions.
There were some colorful sea anemones in many of the pools.
We also saw several starfish as well.
I was hoping we would get the chance to see some whales, but Spillz did notice some sea lions basking on these rocks. Overall, it was a great day.
