Mudslides

It seems mudslides have occurred in parts of the station fire burn areas today. It's been raining pretty steadily here in LA for over 24 hours. A couple of weeks ago, most people (including myself) seemed surprised that the hills remained intact after a series of storms rolled through the area. I remember waking up last night thinking this storm seemed to be dumping a heck of a lot of rain. I guess it was finally too much for this particular area.

  1. This morning, the rain gauge showed 5"!!
I woke up in the night with the thunder and lightening and was struck by how hard the rain was falling. The washes look like rivers and the debris is all the way down Ocean View into Montrose. I watched the "Storm Coverage" on and off all day. The debris flow basins filled with mud. When that mud flows, nothing can stop it.

  2. Wow you SoCaler's this is amazing. Not surprising I suppose, but the force of nature via fire and then mud must be something. Hope you are all staying safe and enjoying what you can of the rain. Are you forecasted to get more?
