Idyllwild to Campo

Finally made it to Campo yesterday and this PCT journey has come to an end. It was a great 12 days, the desert was very peaceful despite the lack of water, high winds, two rain storms, and the presence of rattlesnakes and tarantulas. There were very few hikers on the trails and I didn't see anybody for several days. I was able to wake up when I wanted to, usually didn't start hiking until 8:30am and usually set up camp at 5:30pm. No pressure at all to do big miles! I forgot how enjoyable backpacking used to be! Trail magic continued to reveal itself. Rides were easy to come by, I met my friend Pete for lunch in Julian, and met a man named Allan and his two kids near Mt. Laguna who offered to give me a lift to San Diego from Campo a couple of days later.

At the moment, I think I will let the stories continue to marinate in my mind and probably write the ones that stand out the most in the weeks to come. I think I am done hiking for a while and the job search is once again taking center stage for now. Hopefully I will eventually be able to update the sequence of photos from Crater Lake to the finish. Until then, thank you everybody for the support and comments. I want to share Indie's blog one more time as well. It's at:

Until next time...
